Narrative medicine is an approach that recognizes the importance of stories and narrative in medical practice. It involves listening to and understanding patients’ experiences and how these experiences are intertwined with their health and well-being. Narrative medicine fosters a more empathetic relationship between doctors and patients, promoting a deeper understanding of the person as a whole. It also facilitates more effective communication and shared decision-making. By giving voice to patients’ stories, narrative medicine helps build a more human-centered approach to healthcare, enhancing the quality of medical care and treatment outcomes.

For the editorial design of the “Narrative Medicine” magazine by Pontifical Javeriana University in Cali, we opted for a neutral background with a sober typography arranged in two columns. The intention was to create a space where colorful illustrations would stand out, reflecting an interest in the human condition in all its manifestations. This design choice aimed to capture the essence of the diverse narratives and stories that unfold within the field of medicine, emphasizing the human aspect and creating an engaging visual experience for the readers.
